Hello family,
Thanks for the birthday wishes! It really is weird to be turning twenty this week. To be honest I don´t even have the package yet :/ It´s still sitting in Málaga and probably won´t get to me until after my birthday. But that´s okay! Because things are going well. So first off, a good story. So yesterday we ended a week of miracles as mission. We had a goal of getting 555 new investigators in one week. To put that in perspective, the most we have gotten is 230. So it was a pretty lofty goal. So we worked all week trying to get at least 7 investigators (that was the goal for every companionship). Our district had a goal of 21 and things at the beginning of the week were going great. We had gotten 3 by Thursday and were doing well. On Saturday we had 4 more news set up and things were headed in the right direction. But on Saturday all four of our meetings that we had set up fell through. So we were bummed. Really bummed. We almost gave up. On Sunday we kept going with some help from the Lord but when it was time to send in our numbers we hadn´t gotten another new and we were one short for our goal as a district. So we called in our numbers and as we were sitting down to do that a group of kids came up to play some soccer and stuff. After the phone call we started talking to the kids and eventually a group of young women came over too. They were kinda punks and started making fun of us a bit. But as we continued talking they started asking questions about the Book of Mormon and what we did. So we taught a lesson. And then we set up an appointment with one of the girls for this Wednesday. As we walked away, we realized, Hey, that was a new investigator! So we quickly called our District Leader and got it all figured out. So in the very last seconds the Lord led us to the investigator that would help us get our goal. As a mission we got 558 investigators last week, a miracle. The Lord knows how to do his work, I know that that is true.
So now on to other things, specifically Skyler. I sent him an email that I hope will help. Im going to forward it to you too. And I fasted (to be honest I almost forgot, but the Lord reminded me). I just want to say once again, that we need to let him know that if he does come home, he won´t be disgracing us or anything like that. If that door closes off, he is just going to want it more. But if he realizes that that door is open I think he will feel less like a bird in a cage, and will be able to step back and really think about what he is doing. And the consequences of it. He needs to realize the Lord´s love over everything. Right now he is miserable. That´s just the honest truth. But the only person that can change that is him. And the only way to do it is to help him realize that the Lord will always love him and loves him right now, even if he isn´t doing the best. I´m going to ask my mission president for advice, and we´ll see if we can help him. But don´t worry, he is in good hands, and no matter what happens, there is always chance to serve the Lord in whatever capacity. It´s amazing that he had the testimony enough to go. I know he says that he didn´t even think about it, but I know he did it because he loves the Lord. And the Lord loves him and will help him, even if he does come home.
I love you all so so much and I just want to say thank you for twenty of the best years anyone could have. I´m so grateful to have you all as my family. I couldn´t ask for anyone or anything better! Love you and have a good week!

hello family
Hello family,
How´s it going? I´m doing really good. Don´t know why I´m so great, but I´m just feeling really good right now. I think it´s because I just decided to work really hard and now I´m actually doing it and it´s the most rewarding thing ever. Really the mission is amazing. It sounds like you all are having some fun times. School starts this week?!?!?!?! Crazy. That means I´ve been out for almost a year. Weird. I feel like I just got here. So there´s a new temple movie!? Sick. I want to see it. Maybe I´ll just sneak up to Madrid to check it out. Broma :) I did go outside the mission boundaries today though. All the way to Portugal! But we have permission for that, so it´s not disobediant :) But it was pretty sweet. Now I can say I´ve been to France, Porgual, and Spain. Sweet! But it´s been really good. This week was honestly a really tough one. I was feeling really bad. Like really down on myself and stuff. I think the reason was because I was definitely not working in the way I should have. Sometimes you get tired. And these last few weeks I´ve been tired. Tired of walking and talking and going out in the 100+ weather and everything. So I just decided to take it slow and be inside a lot. That made me feel awful. I knew I wasn´t doing what the Lord needed, but I justified it. What else can I do? Things like that. But then I got really down on myself. I asked myself if I would be able to look the Lord in the eye right now and tell him that I´m taking care of this part of his vineyard and I decided, no I wouldn´t have been able to. So I knew I had to change something. So I did. I decided that no matter what or where or when or why, I would be sharing what I have. I´ll at least be ready and be the example, doing something to help the work progress. And when I´m out, I´ll be talking. And that´s what I started doing. And just like that, the Spirit was back and the fire was rekindled. And I´ll tell you what. It´s not going back out. There is so much more happiness in working than in relaxing. Sure there are moments when you want to quit, but working until you come home dead feels so much better than staying up thinking about all the people who you may have missed. I love this work. Especially the work part of it right now. I love you all and hope you are doing great. Keep up the scripture study and the prayers, they are so important. I love you all!

Hey there family,
It´s great to hear from you. I´m kinda a little stressed about Skyler now, but that´s okay. I´ll be praying really hard this next little while. For me things are okay. I´m having a hard time with my comp right now, but nothing I haven´t had before and nothing that I can´t handle. So yeah, I´ve had hard times too, and I told Skyler about them so I hope that will help. But anyway sounds like you all have had a fun week. Fun with chinchillas and tacos and spandex and all sorts of things. You saw World War Z, huh? A little bit of Brad Pitt. I heard it was really good. Have to make sure I see that one in a little more than a year. A little more than a year? What the? Weird stuff. But it´s fun. I love the work. It´s hard and things are actually really really slow here. Like it´s the slowest I´ve ever had it. We are teaching 10 lessons a week and I´m used to about 20. And the thing that is hard is that there are people to teach here, we just aren´t finding them. But I know that I just need to personally be working hard and obedient and the Lord will help me through. It´s all about trusting in him. He helps us out always. I´m so grateful for his love and all he does for us. And I´m so grateful to have you all as my family. I love you all so much. Thanks for everything, the package, and the support. You are really the best family anyone could ask for. Sorry this email is short, but I spent a lot of time talking to Skyler and stuff. But I hope you all are doing great. I´m doing good. Ready to turn 20, which is really weird. Keep praying for Skyler and maybe an occasional one for me if you have a few extra minutes :) Love you all so much. Keep me posted.

Hola familia!
First off, HAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPYYYYYYYY BBBIIIIIIIIRRRRRTTTHHDDDAAAAAAAAY MOOOOOMMMMMAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So sadly I have not been to Portugal yet. But I have been to Sevilla, which is one of the more famous cities in Spain. It´s also like the hottest. It was burning up. So Skyler is off in Korea! I haven´t heard from him yet, but I´m sure he´s doing great. So I´ll give you the scoop on my new area. My comps name is Elder Curtis. He´s from Salt Lake and has been out for about 4 months. He went to East High so he loves High School Musical. Just kidding. He´s a big kid. He played football for Dixie and weighed about 330 at that point. He´s dropped a ton of weight, but still a big kid. We won´t be getting messed with by any Spaniards, that´s for sure. And Badajoz. Badajoz is about 800 years old. It´s a city of about 150,000 people. The rama has 50-60 active members and they are amazing. They are super helpful and willing when it comes to missionary work and we are really excited to work with them. We have people from everywhere in the rama here. Peruvians, Colombians, Brasiliens, Portugese, Spaniards, members from Angola, China, all over the place. It´s pretty crazy. Here in the area we also have a set of Hermanas. They are both from Utah too! So for Utah missionaries in one Rama, pretty great. This week has been a tough one, but we are figuring it all out. We just need to get a good base here in the area. But once we figure it out I´m sure things will all work out. I miss Valdepeñas a ton, but that´s okay.
So Skyler is in Korea! That´s so crazy. I remember the flight to Spain. It was only like 12 hours, instead of 24, but I was still exhausted. We got to go to bed early and wake up a little late though so that was good. But it all depends on the President, but I´m sure he´ll let them rest a bit. It´s super crazy for me to think that my little brother is a missionary. Super weird. But it´s awesome. One of the hermanas has a brother in Japan right now. And he´s actually going home pretty soon. Crazy stuff. So mom you´re thinking about becoming a vegetarian, huh? Well let me just remind you of a little place called Tucanos. Could you really ditch out on Tucanos when we go again, becuase when I get back we shall be going to Tucanos :) Meat is just way too good. So what are the other plans for the birthday? Can you put some cake in my package? :) Just kidding that would be gross. Oh and my address here in Badajoz is:
Elder Charles Dale Flint
c. Gaspar Mendez Nº15, 3ºE
06011 Badajoz
ESPAÑA
and to the mission home is:
Elder Charles Dale Flint
Mision Malaga España
Av. Jesús Santos Rein Nº2, 3D-E

You can send the package to either one. If there is one thing I could ask for for you to add, it would be my dark blue v neck (shirt) That´s about it. Oh and the whole ATM thing, yeah that stunk. I was in Sevilla without money, so I had to take some out with my card. I didn´t think it would take out that much! That´s insane. But it won´t happen again, believe you me. But I hope things go well for you this week, I´m really excited to hear from you again. Love you all a ton!
